Local Business Spotlight:

As per usual at the start of a new year, new habits, goals, and resolutions are
being formed (and hopefully not being broken yet!). For many people, these goals
include leading a healthier life by exercising more and eating nutritious food. Perhaps, these goals might include moving to a different town, buying a new home, or simply integrating healthier habits into your daily routine. Whatever your resolution may be, spending time in places which nurture your goals and surrounding yourself with people who support you are great ways to ensure you are successful in maintaining your healthy habits and sticking to your goals. One place on Hilton Head Island where this success is possible and where health and nutrition are highly valued is Delisheeyo, a frozen yogurt shop, organic juice and salad bar, and vegetarian health kitchen. We sat down with Blake Wearren, owner of Delisheeyo, and asked him some questions about his business and how it all started.

Delisheeyo- how it began
Delisheeyo originated as a “frozen yogurt and smoothie shop with fresh juices and a couple of homemade dishes.” Wearren says. “Over time we tried to distance ourselves from a tropical frozen yogurt shop and developed a fuller menu with a salad bar, soups, wraps, and grain bowls.” From cooling down with a delicious smoothie and massaged kale salad on a hot summer day or warming up with a quinoa grain “Buddha Bowl” or organic, freshly made soup during the winter, Delisheeyo has options for all seasons and all people. Blake and his father “Farmer B” work together to pick ingredients fresh from their garden which surrounds the restaurant. His lifelong friend and business partner, Eric Pettitano, and all of the members of the Delisheeyo crew play essential roles in maintaining this wonderful restaurant by prepping organic produce daily and making in-house dishes. Their good intentions are clear: “To provide Hilton Head with a restaurant with clean, healthy options.”

Why Hilton Head?
Blake was quick to answer. “It just feels like home here. Honestly, I’ve always loved Hilton Head and it has always been a second home to me. I love the healthy lifestyle that is available here which embraces outdoor activity and spending time in nature.” Hilton Head, with beautiful beaches, huge oak trees, and salt marshes, is an incredible place to live. Blake has noted that over time, people on Hilton Head are “generally looking for a healthier lifestyle. We are seeing different groups coming in – younger kids who are looking to eat healthier and are more familiar with superfoods and health benefits. Also, people from the older generation, who are looking to extend their lives in a healthy way, are coming in as well.” Delisheeyo, just like Hilton Head Island, is a place which appeals to all generations and is conducive to a healthier, happier life. Next time you are craving a bite, stop by Delisheeyo and see what it is all about.
